Rashida Jones Religion

Born in 25th February, 1976, Rashida Leah Jones is an American producer, actress, writer, and singer. Jones is widely known for playing the role of Ann Perkins on the comedy series Parks and Recreation.

She was born in Los Angeles, California to Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones. Her mother, Peggy Lipton was an actress to while father was a musician and producer. She is the younger sister to model and actress, Kidada Jones, and also a half-sister to five siblings from her father’s other relationships. Rashida Jones father is an African American from Cameroon. On the other hand, her mother is of Jewish descent, an immigrant for Russia and Latvia.

Religion/Beliefs

Rashida and her sister were both raised in Reform Judaism by their mother. Jones attended a Hebrew school but left at the age of ten. Additionally, she did not have a Bat Mitzvah.
Despite the fact that she was raised Jewish, Jones started practicing Hinduism in her teen years with her mother, after they visited an ashram in India. However, as an adult, she practices Judaism.

When asked about her religious life, she replied saying that everybody is free to practice the kind of religion he/she wants. However, she feels more connected to the Jewish customs and traditions. In addition, her boyfriend tend to be practice Jewish strongly.

Although Rashida Jones does not see the Jewish religion as a necessity, there is something about it she connects with, for whatever reason.

Political Views

In the last four cycles, Rashida Jones has strongly campaigned for presidential candidates running under the Democratic Party. She supported Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012. In the year 2008, she visited college campuses urging voters to register for Democratic Party, and elect Barack Obama too.

When Barack Obama was elected for the first time, Jones was quite happy and she stated that Obama was the only hope that the country had. At that moment, she felt proud to be an American for the first time.

Before this, in the 2004 election, Jones had campaigned for the Democratic Party candidate, John Kerry. In the 2016 United States presidential elections, Rashida Jones endorsed Hillary Clinton.

Apart from being a supporter of the Democratic Party, Jones has received a lot of praise following her pro-women work. This was mostly noticed in her film, Celeste and Jess. When asked about American women, she responded saying that it is hard to live as a woman, and most men need to understand this.
