Alyson Hannigan Religion

Born on March 24th 1974, Alyson Lee Hannigan is an American actress, best known for her characters as Lily Aldrin in How I Met Your Mother, and Michelle Flaherty in American Pie. She was born in Washington, D.C, and was the only child of Alan Hannigan, a trucker, and Emilie Haas, who was a real estate agent. The two divorced when she was two, and she was mostly raised by her mother in Atlanta, Georgia.

Alyson Hannigan’s mother is Jewish and her father is of Irish origin. Since her father was Irish, Hannigan could have some Roman Catholic beliefs. However, she was mostly raised by her mother, who was of Jewish decent. Therefore, she would mostly identify more with the Jewish religion.
Nevertheless, when asked how it was growing up with the two distinct religions around her, she said that it wasn’t much of a big deal for her. This could suggest that Hannigan is not a very religious person.

Political Views

Reports indicated that Hannigan was among the people who attended a reception at Gwen Stefani’s house, which was also attended by Michele Obama. All the funds raised in that reception were directed to Obama Victory Fund, a fundraising committee of the Democratic National Committee, Obama of America, and other state Democratic parties. Additionally, she was caught waving happily at Obama’s motorcade in Los Angeles.

These instances could suggest that she is a Democrat. However, maybe she attended Gwen Stefani’s reception to show support for the Obama Victory Fund and make her contribution. Therefore, this simple act is not enough to show that she is a supporter of the Democratic Party.

Additionally, Hannigan hasn’t talked much about politics.

Sexual Politics

Alyson Hannigan’s characters in movies are widely known for their lack of sexual inhibitions. This could be a sign that Hannigan tends to lean left when it comes to social conventions. In her renowned role as Wiccan Willow in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Alyson’ character had a long-term lesbian relationship with a character called Tara. When Hannigan was asked about the storyline, she said that she had a great experience playing her role, and that she hopes she touched a lot of in the society in similar relationships.

Before she even spoke, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, had already been labeled as the gayest show on TV. Additionally, Hannigan also hopes that she received a huge following due to the role she played in the movie.

From these scenarios, it seems that although Hannigan is not vibrant about government leadership, she is ready to push the frontier of sexual politics.
